Cameroon passport guide

How a Cameroonian citizen applies for, renews or replaces a passport β€” built only from official Cameroon sources.

Fall Bush AI provides information based on official sources. Requirements, fees and procedures can change. Always check the current official source before making a payment or attending an appointment. Fall Bush AI is not a government service. It cannot issue, renew, approve or speed up a passport.

Which application is this?

Do I need a middleman or agent to get a Cameroon passport?

You can apply through the official Cameroon passport process yourself. You do not need to pay an unofficial middleman simply to submit your passport application.

Claims worth checking carefully:

  • β€œYou must pay me to get your passport.”
  • β€œOnly an agent can book your appointment.”
  • β€œI have special access to the passport office.”
  • β€œYour application cannot be completed without me.”

Fall Bush AI does not say that every form of assistance or representation is unlawful. It says that the official process is open to you directly.

Step by step

  1. Step 1 β€” Check eligibility
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: DGSN β€” Cameroon National Police, passports page

The ordinary passport is a travel document issued by the Delegate General for National Security to any Cameroonian who applies for it. Official requirements are set by four age categories: 0–13, 14–20, 21–49 and 50 and over.

  2. Step 2 β€” Prepare the required documents
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: DGSN β€” Cameroon National Police, passports page

Copies of a birth certificate and marriage certificate are certified by the council (mairie), the sub-divisional office, the divisional office or the governor's services. A copy of the national identity card is certified by police services. A parental authorisation is certified only by police services.

    What may be required

    • Adults 21–49: certified and plain copies of the birth certificate, certified and plain copies of the national identity card, a certified copy of the marriage certificate for married women, and a copy of proof of profession.
    • Minors also need a parental authorisation from the parent or legal guardian applying, and a power of attorney where a guardian applies.
  3. Step 3 β€” Complete the official pre-enrolment
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: PassCam β€” official biometric passport portal (for the DGSN)

On the official passport portal you register yourself, create an applicant account and complete the online application form. The portal is operated for the DGSN β€” you do this yourself, with your own account.

  4. Step 4 β€” Pay the official fee
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: PassCam β€” official biometric passport portal (for the DGSN)

The application is only processed once the passport application fees have been received in full through the official process. The fee is fixed in XAF; where a passport application centre is outside Cameroon it is payable in the local currency.

  5. Step 5 β€” Book the appointment
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: PassCam β€” official biometric passport portal (for the DGSN)

From your own account you book an appointment to give your biometric data at the passport application centre of your choice. The appointment is confirmed to you by the official service.

  6. Step 6 β€” Attend physical enrolment
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: DGSN β€” Cameroon National Police, passports page

You attend the passport application centre you chose so your biometric data can be collected. Inside Cameroon applications are lodged at emi-immigration police stations or the Border Police Directorate; from abroad they are lodged with Cameroon's diplomatic missions or consular posts.

  7. Step 7 β€” Biometric and document checks
βœ… VerifiedOfficial source: PassCam β€” official biometric passport portal (for the DGSN)

Your biometric data is collected for the application, and the DGSN examines and verifies the personal data you provided before a passport is produced.

  8. Step 8 β€” Wait for processing
⚠️ Source requiredOfficial source: No official source checked yet

The official sources checked do not publish a processing time. Any promise of a guaranteed or unusually fast delivery should be checked against the official service.

Fall Bush AI has not independently verified this requirement. Official guidance currently does not provide enough information here.

  9. Step 9 β€” Collect the passport
⚠️ Source requiredOfficial source: No official source checked yet

The official sources checked do not set out the collection procedure in enough detail. Ask the enrolment centre or mission where you applied how and where collection takes place.

Renewing an existing passport
⚠️ Source required

Official guidance currently does not provide enough information here.

Where this differs from a first application

  • The official sources checked describe the ordinary passport application and the documents required by age category. They do not publish a separate renewal procedure.
  • Do not assume that a renewal needs the same documents as a first application. Ask the enrolment centre or your mission what applies to your case.
Replacing a lost, stolen or damaged passport
⚠️ Source required

Official guidance currently does not provide enough information here.

Where this differs from a first application

  • The official sources checked do not set out a procedure for a lost, stolen or damaged passport, including whether a police declaration is required.
  • Report the loss or theft to the police and ask the official passport service what it requires before paying anyone.
Applying for a Cameroon passport from abroad
βœ… Verified
  • For Cameroonians living abroad, the application is lodged with the heads of Cameroon's diplomatic missions or consular posts.
  • Which mission covers you depends on where you live, so it must be identified from the official list rather than assumed.

Watch out for unnecessary passport fees

These are warning signs to check carefully.

  • Someone asks for money simply to give you access to the official application.
  • Someone claims to have special influence over passport officials.
  • They refuse to give an official receipt.
  • They ask you to pay through an unofficial payment method.
  • They claim the official website or process cannot be used by you.
  • They promise guaranteed or unusually fast processing without official confirmation.

A warning sign is not proof that a person or business is dishonest. Check it against the official source before you pay.

Official payment information

Official government payment
  • The stamp duty and the application fees are official amounts published by the official passport service.
  • The application is only processed once the official fees are received in full through the official process.
  • The official sources checked do not name a specific payment channel such as a mobile money number. Fall Bush AI will not describe any channel as official without a verified source.
Unofficial intermediary payment
  • Money paid to a person outside the official process is not an official fee, even when the amount sounds official.
  • Ask for a written receipt naming who received the money and what it was for, and keep it as evidence.
What can I do myself?
  • Register yourself on the official portal and create your own applicant account.
  • Complete your own online application form.
  • Book your own appointment at the enrolment centre of your choice.
  • Gather and certify your own documents at the council, the sub-divisional or divisional office, the governor's services or the police, as the official list requires.
  • Pay the official fees through the official process and keep the receipt.
  • Attend the enrolment appointment and give your biometric data yourself.
  • Identify the Cameroon mission covering your country from the official directory if you are abroad.
When might I need assistance?
  • Difficulty using the online system.
  • Accessibility needs.
  • Language or technical difficulties.
  • Difficulty travelling to an enrolment location.
  • Unusual documentation circumstances.

Needing help is not the same as being told that an unofficial middleman is compulsory.
